Use Insights
Best for: business and analytics users who want answers, not raw data.
Insights is a dedicated analytics application built on top of Pine59 data. It comes with ready-made dashboards and workflows for the most common questions our customers ask: foot traffic by brand or site, area-level trends, year-over-year comparisons, audience profiles, trade areas. You do not pick datasets or write queries: you pick a question, narrow it with the built-in filters, and Insights handles the data wiring.
Reach for Insights when:
- You want a polished dashboard, not a CSV.
- The question fits one of the pre-built flows (brand performance, area trends, visitor demographics, competitive benchmarking).
- You want to share a link with a stakeholder rather than a spreadsheet.
- You want to present a report (PDF) internally in your business or externally to clients.
Insights has its own in-app onboarding when you first sign in. Follow that to set up your locations and pick your starting dashboards. If you do not have access yet, email support@pine59.com.
Use the Console
Best for: analysts, data engineers, and admins who want to see what is in the catalog and download samples.
The Pine59 Console is where you browse and inspect the data layer directly. It exposes the same catalog the API does, but with a UI. No key required to look around.
Reach for the Console when:
- You want to know what datasets exist for a country, region, or industry, and what fields they contain.
- You want to preview a dataset before deciding whether to integrate it.
- You want to run a query and export the results as CSV or JSON for Excel, a BI tool, or your own workflows.

Use AI agents
Best for: anyone who wants to ask questions in plain English and have an LLM do the lookup.
AI clients like Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT can browse the catalog, run queries, and explain the results, without you writing the request yourself. These docs are built for that: every page has an LLM-readable Markdown mirror, so pointing your AI client at the docs (start it at /llms.txt) plus your API key is all the setup there is.
Reach for an AI agent when:
- You want exploratory answers ("which dataset would tell me how Starbucks is doing in Stockholm?") rather than a fixed report.
- You already use Claude or Cursor for other work and want to keep the conversation in one place.
- You want to prototype an analysis before setting it up as a recurring dashboard or automating it via the API.

Choosing between them
A quick rule of thumb:
- Recurring question, polished output → Insights.
- One-off lookup, deep inspection, or admin task → Console.
- Conversational exploration → AI agents.
