Area

A bounded geographical region: a neighborhood, an administrative region, a Census Block Group, a ZIP code, or a uniform grid cell. Area datasets describe activity within the boundary, not at a specific point.

Use area-level data when the question is about where activity is happening at a neighborhood or regional scale, such as public-sector reporting, real-estate due diligence, infrastructure planning, or market sizing. When the question is about a specific store or venue, switch to the Place location type.

Custom boundaries

You are not limited to the pre-built location sets. If you have your own map (trade zones, sales territories, property outlines, catchment polygons), Pine59 can attribute its metrics to boundaries you define, so the data lines up with the geography your organization already thinks in. Reach out to support@pine59.com to set up custom boundaries for your account.
